COOKING MEALS AT HOMELESS SHELTER

Spooner HouseThe Circle currently sponsors evening meals on a regular basis at the ACT Spooner House Transitional Living Facility, located in Shelton, CT.  Spooner House is called home by 35 individuals and families in need.  It is one of the few shelters in the state that accepts families with children.  Spooner House is administered and/or assisted by Area Congregations Together (ACT) a cooperative consisting of local churches, synagogues, mosques, temples and, yes, pagan circles (ours), plus various civic organizations.  Through long tradition (dating back more than 25 years) each night, the evening meal is provided by one of the sponsoring churches/organizations.  Currently, the Circle is sponsoring the meal on an ad hoc basis, as needed (and as can be staffed).

The meal schedule for 2012 is as follows:

Saturday, March 31st

Saturday, June 30th

Friday, October 19th

We are always seeking volunteers to help prepare and serve the meal.  Two shifts are available:  4 - 6 p.m. or 6 - 8 p.m.  Volunteers who help cover both shifts will be provided with a meal.

Please e-mail us if you can help.

Community Service

The Circle believes that it is important to work to create, support and maintain community.  This includes both the pagan and the mundane communities.  For this reason, we hold open events and also do volunteer work in the local community.

Please contact us if you would like to participate in any of our community service projects, or if you know of a worthy cause that is open to Circle assistance.
